Is my EPUB file safe when I upload it to Epub Reader Pro?
Yes, your files are completely safe. Epub Reader Pro never uploads your EPUB files to any server. All processing happens directly in your browser on your device. Your files stay private and secure at all times. We use client-side rendering, which means no data is sent to our servers - everything remains under your control.
What EPUB file formats does Epub Reader Pro support?
Epub Reader Pro supports both EPUB 2 and EPUB 3 formats. These are the industry-standard ebook formats used by millions of digital books. We also support DRM-free EPUB files. If your EPUB file has DRM (Digital Rights Management) protection, you'll need to remove that protection first before reading it in our reader.
Does Epub Reader Pro collect my reading data?
No, we do not collect your reading data. Privacy is fundamental to our design. All your reading progress, bookmarks, and highlights are stored locally in your browser - never sent to our servers. We don't track your reading habits, book choices, or any personal information.
Is there a cost to use Epub Reader Pro?

Can I use Epub Reader Pro on my mobile phone or tablet?
Yes! Epub Reader Pro is fully responsive and works on smartphones, tablets, and all mobile devices. The interface automatically adjusts to your screen size. You can read ebooks on iOS (iPad, iPhone) and Android devices. We recommend using the latest version of your mobile browser for optimal performance.
Can I read the same book on multiple devices?
Yes, you can read the same EPUB on multiple devices. However, reading progress is stored locally in each browser, so your bookmarks and position won't sync across devices automatically. You can export your annotations and import them on other devices if needed.

Can I customize the reading experience?
Absolutely! We offer extensive customization options: choose from 10 different fonts (Georgia, Bookerly, Palatino, Times New Roman, Garamond, Open Sans, Arial, Verdana, Courier New, Comic Sans), adjust font size and line height, select from 3 eye-comfort themes (Light, Dark, Sepia), and choose between 3 different reading layouts (Paginated, Continuous Scroll, Two-Page Spread). All settings are saved automatically.
How does text-to-speech work in Epub Reader Pro?
Our text-to-speech feature uses your browser's built-in speech synthesis engine. This means the narration happens locally on your device without downloading audio files. You can control the playback speed and pause/resume reading. The voice quality depends on your operating system and browser settings.
What are the highlighting options?
Epub Reader Pro offers 5-color highlighting: yellow, green, blue, pink, and orange. You can mark important passages as you read, and all highlights are saved locally. You can view all highlights in the Highlights Library, jump to highlighted sections, and export them as files.
Saving & Managing Content
How do I save my reading progress and bookmarks?
Epub Reader Pro automatically saves your reading progress, bookmarks, and highlights locally in your browser. Your data is stored in browser storage (localStorage) on your device. This means your reading position, bookmarks, and notes are saved between sessions. However, data is tied to your browser - clearing browser data will reset this information.
Can I export my bookmarks and highlights?
Yes! Epub Reader Pro allows you to export all your bookmarks and highlights as Markdown or JSON files. You can download these files and use them in other applications, backup your annotations, or share them with others. This makes it easy to preserve your reading notes.
How do I navigate through chapters and sections?
Epub Reader Pro displays the Table of Contents (TOC) in a collapsible sidebar. Click any chapter or section to jump directly to it. You can also use bookmarks to save specific locations and return to them instantly. The reading progress indicator shows your position in the book.
Can I search within my EPUB files?
Yes! Epub Reader Pro includes full-text search functionality. You can search for any word, phrase, or concept throughout your entire book. Search results show context and allow you to jump directly to matches. This is particularly useful for textbooks and reference materials.
Troubleshooting
My EPUB file won't open. What should I do?
First, check that your file is a valid EPUB format (ends in .epub). Verify the file isn't corrupted by trying to open it in another reader. If it's a DRM-protected EPUB, you'll need to remove DRM protection first. If the file has packaging issues, try using a tool like Calibre to fix it. Contact our support team if you continue having issues.
Why does my EPUB book have formatting issues?
Formatting issues usually stem from how the EPUB was created. Try adjusting your reading settings: change fonts, line height, or margins. Sometimes switching layouts (Paginated to Continuous Scroll) helps. If issues persist, the EPUB file may have structural problems - try opening it in another reader to compare. Contact us if the issue continues.

What is a CFI (Content Fragment Identifier)?
CFI is an industry standard for precisely locating content within EPUB files. We use CFI for bookmarks and highlights to ensure your saved locations remain accurate, even if the book is updated. This standard ensures compatibility across different EPUB readers.
Does Epub Reader Pro work offline?
Yes, Epub Reader Pro can work offline! Once you've loaded the application in your browser, you can read your EPUB files without an internet connection. However, you'll need an internet connection to initially access the website and load your EPUB file.
Tools & Conversions
Can I convert EPUB files to PDF?
Epub Reader Pro is focused on EPUB reading and annotation. The site does not currently provide a dedicated EPUB conversion tool.
